Emergency Surgery

Rosie was flown to the Colorado Children's Hospital with a head injury.  Upon arrival, it was determined that she had damage to her trachea as well as the right side of her head.  The trachea damage required immediate attention so the Cardiothoracic team, headed by Dr. Max Mitchell, got to work.  After their work was completed, the Ear, Nose and Throat team, headed by Dr. Kenny Chan, worked with the Neurosurgery team, headed by Dr. Michael Handler, to work to repair her head injury.  Once all of these lifesaving procedures were accomplished, Rosie began her journey in the Intensive Care Unit.

There is no way to fully express our gratitude to all of the surgery teams who saved our Rosie’s life, but you will always be in our heart.

Intensive Care Unit

Our Rosie was moved to the Intensive Care Unit after surgery.  She was heavily sedated as the doctors didn’t want her to move her head which would damage the sutures in her trachea.  Through the last week, she has been a champion.
